For Pete's sake, tell Pickett I said "Take the hill"!! :)

Get up early and hit the battlefield right at dawn--before all the crowds show up--and walk from the woods up to Cemetery Hill. It's a pretty profound experience. You can almost feel 20,000 lost souls walking with you.
Been there and done that.

The Confederate camp is about 2 miles from the battlefield, Sunday morning, we're walking there as Pickett's Charge is not until the afternoon.

Catch ya'll later!

Combat Boat 90 (CB90) is a class of fast military assault craft originally developed for the Royal Swedish Navy by Dockstavarvet. In addition to the many variants in service with the Swedish Navy under the Strb 90 H designation, the CB 90 has been adopted by the navies of several countries, including Norway (as the S90N), Greece, Mexico (as the CB 90 HMN) and Malaysia.

The CB90 is an exceptionally fast and agile boat. It is light weight, shallow draught and twin water jets allow it to operate at speeds of up to 40 knots (74 km/h) in shallow coastal waters. The water jets are partially ducted, which, along with underwater control surfaces similar to a submarine's diving planes, allows the CB90 to execute extremely sharp turns at high speed, decelerate from top speed to a full stop in 2.5 boat lengths, and adjust its pitch and roll angle while under way.

[edit] History
In 1988, Dockstavarvet won a competition to design and manufacture a replacement for the aging Tpbs 200 class. Two prototypes, with pennant number 801 and 802, were delivered in 1989. After completion of field trials, the Swedish Navy signed a purchase order for 120 boats in June 1990.

The official Swedish Navy designation is Strb 90 H (Stridsbåt 1990 Halv pluton, literally: Combat Boat 1990 Half platoon); the H refers to the fact that it can carry and deploy a half platoon of amphibious infantry (21 men) fully equipped.

In 2002, the Swedish Navy ordered an additional 27 boats of a slightly different type, designated Strb 90 HS, and intended for deployment in overseas peace-keeping operations. It is unclear what the S refers to; it may be short for Skyddad (protected), as the Strb 90 HS is armored. Apart from the addition of armor, the HS model features NBC warfare protection (the whole boat can be over-pressurized), air-condition for deployment in tropical conditions, fuel cooling system, 220V generator and more powerful engines. The factory sometimes refers to it as the CB 90 HI, where the I probably stands for International.

The Royal Norwegian Navy evaluated the Strb 90 H in early 1996, and subsequently purchased a total of 20 boats, designated 90 N (for Norsk utgave, literally Norwegian version).

The Mexican Navy acquired 40 units (designated CB 90 HMN) between 1999 and 2001, and obtained a production license in 2002, allowing further units to be manufactured in Mexico.

The German Water Police rented a Combat Boat 90H from the manufacturer Dockstavarvet for the 33rd G8 summit in Heiligendamm, Germany. This boat was involved in a high speed chase with three Greenpeace rubber boats, who were trying to enter the restricted area near the hotel where the meeting was held. A video clip of the incident was later widely spread around the internet.[1][2]

In July 2007 The United States Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) specified the CB90 for testing as its Riverine Command Boat. Safeboat International of Port Orchard, Washington, was given a US$2.8 million contract to produce one prototype.

No razes on the half. :p

This is one MEAN boat. I'm having visions of anyone giving you lip service now that it will be "kjizzle manning the guns". :D

Miles to the marina: 10
Time waiting in line to put the boat in the water: An hour
Drunk idiots on the water to try to avoid: Too many to count
Kids screaming ITS MY TURN ON THE INNERTUBE!!! MOOOOMMMM!!!!!: You tell me
Bottles of sunscreen at $15 a pop, and you get sunburned anyway: Five
Gas: $4.25 a gallon
Things swimming around 20 feet below you that think when you lie on that raft like that you look an awful lot like an hors d'ouevre on a Ritz cracker: 'bout a million
Times I had to look up hors d'ouevre because I kept spelling it wrong: 2

Not having a boat so you float around in the pool for three days in peaceful bliss while somebody makes you a Tanqueray and tonic and somebody else cooks you a steak and it's your sister's turn to clean up: Priceless!

Have a great fourth and remember to have LOTS OF FUN! It is required:p
While you are all out on the beaches and in your boats think about me stuck at the office:(
I won't be there the whole weekend but long enough:eek:
It is too much trouble taking the boat out for a few hours all the cleaning and preparing just isn't worth a few hours.
Enjoy yourselves!
Enjoy yourself too. I'll be thinking of you while snorkeling (well maybe). Don't know how much business you'll be doing on the 4th, but if you have to be there, may it be very profitable.

Have hubby do all the cleaning & preparing. It's a holiday, so you're off duty!!

No, I don't know you at all. Should I? ;)

I know I make some typos and uses syllepisis' (no syllepisis' in written papers though), and when not wearing spectacles don't read things correctly. I just noticed that you do correct a lot of posts.

A professor at the Bachelor's level lowered the grade of my research paper because of grammar mistakes. I went to talk with her about those there mistakes, and told her that I didn't mind my grammar being corrected as long as it was being corrected correctly. After explaining to her why her corrections were incorrect, she changed the grade making it an A paper.

I'm missing all the fun! At home, all outdoor activities have been canceled because of the smoke from the fires, three counties are recommending people stay indoors, and little league all stars and even swimming competitions have been canceled due to the smoke in the air!

And ... darn ... here I am in Pennsylvania! And for those that have never traveled out here, I will never make fun of West Virginia ever again! That has to be one of the most beautiful places on the planet, and the people there have to be among the nicest we've met in our lives. If I could, I'd get a job there tomorrow!

Anyway, off to kill Yankees soon ... so I won't be here for a few days after tonight.

Oh, and for those that think YOUR tales are bad ... try crossing country with three boys (14, 12 and 8) stuck in a car for 6 to 10 hours each day!!! Now THAT is Hell!

As Jeff Foxworthy (or maybe, Bill Engvall) said, "The Wright Brothers invented the plane in 1903 because they traveled across country with their families in 1902."

Amen!

(Though, it has been a great experience so far! ...aside from the whining and attempted fratricide.)

Have fun Carl.

BTW, what are teenagers?

Gods punishment for enjoying sex. (Gallager) :D

No, it was the way you asked me if I was an English teacher. As if you thought I might be somebody you know.

The platoon boat thing? I wasn't correcting her. I was asking, seriously, if there was such a thing as a platoon boat. As it turned out, she did mean "pontoon" boat, but there is such a thing as a platoon boat, so I learned something new today.

Since a platoon boat is one MEAN boat & kjizzle has one MEAN car, I thought perhaps she had the pontoon boat all loaded with guns for the army On The Job partying. :D

Learning something new every day just makes my day too. :)

Working my way through college, one thing I did for a while was tutor college English. Some English mistakes I make here on the forum are intentional, especially when an OP's thread doesn't add up (those fake ones).

I thought maybe she had gotten something from an Army surplus, or somewhere, and fitted it out for a pleasure craft. Until I read the specs. No, I don't think the Army is auctioning off too many of those. Still, I'll bet nobody'd dare to give you any lip about wake if you were out tooling around on that mother.

Lately, the only place I tool around is at Home Depot. :p

Want to hear about my best typo ever? It's a doozy.

Yeah, what was it? My most memorable one was when I wrote a memo to let a co-worker, who was working on a redundant spreadsheet to double-check some figures, know that the boss needed to see her count by the end of the week. I miss-spelled count. Fourteen years ago. Still haven't lived it down.
