What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I am in Maryland, the company is in New York.
I know you guys probably thought that someone would come on here asking about this after hearing the news today. I write for Yahoo Voices. The company that was hacked yesterday. I write under a pen name so that my information stays confidential. However, yesterday, yahoo voices was hacked and several unencrypted files were posted on the internet. Due to this, my real identity has come out and now everyone knows who I am and where I am. My email was released to mass media, along with my password. Anyway, everything about me is out there for everyone to see. I am really angry about it, and many of us voices contributors are scared. So far, the only thing that is posted on the internet is email and passwords. However, using those in certain sequence you can find out quite a bit. My websites and my blogs are all under the same pen name as well. Under different circumstances, I would be happy for the added publicity. However, since the hack, my google adsense has been shut down 6 different times due attempted hacking and my paypal account has been targeted as well.
Contrary to popular belief, yahoo doesn't pay very well for these articles, but it it is money. We are by no means rich. With that information being on the server that was hacked, it is highly possible that our ssn was on there as well as other tax identifying information. Yahoo has made no attempt to contact us at all regarding the hack and what information was taken from the server. Do we have any legal stand point to make them tell us what all was compromised and what is on the hacked server?
