What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I am in Maryland, the company is in New York.

I know you guys probably thought that someone would come on here asking about this after hearing the news today. I write for Yahoo Voices. The company that was hacked yesterday. I write under a pen name so that my information stays confidential. However, yesterday, yahoo voices was hacked and several unencrypted files were posted on the internet. Due to this, my real identity has come out and now everyone knows who I am and where I am. My email was released to mass media, along with my password. Anyway, everything about me is out there for everyone to see. I am really angry about it, and many of us voices contributors are scared. So far, the only thing that is posted on the internet is email and passwords. However, using those in certain sequence you can find out quite a bit. My websites and my blogs are all under the same pen name as well. Under different circumstances, I would be happy for the added publicity. However, since the hack, my google adsense has been shut down 6 different times due attempted hacking and my paypal account has been targeted as well.

Contrary to popular belief, yahoo doesn't pay very well for these articles, but it it is money. We are by no means rich. With that information being on the server that was hacked, it is highly possible that our ssn was on there as well as other tax identifying information. Yahoo has made no attempt to contact us at all regarding the hack and what information was taken from the server. Do we have any legal stand point to make them tell us what all was compromised and what is on the hacked server?

Yahoo's Statement:
At Yahoo we take security very seriously and invest heavily in protective measures to ensure the security of our users and their data across all our products. We confirm that an older file from Yahoo Contributor Network (previously Associated Content) containing approximately 450,000 Yahoo and other company users names and passwords was compromised yesterday, July 11. Of these, less than 5 percent of the Yahoo accounts had valid passwords. We are taking immediate action by fixing the vulnerability that led to the disclosure of this data, changing the passwords of the affected Yahoo users and notifying the companies whose users' accounts may have been compromised. We apologize to all affected users. We encourage users to change their passwords on a regular basis and also familiarize themselves with our online safety tips at security.yahoo.com.

This mess

There is a whole lot more to this mess than they are releasing. Since 2010 when this list supposedly originated my email with them has changed. It is no longer the same email that is on that list. Yet my email and everything attached to it has been hacked. They won't tell us what all was on that server, but it is more than what they are showing was released. I have different emails for yahoo, paypal, and google adsense. None of those emails were on the list that is shown. There were other things on that server.

And speak of the devil, paypal is attached to my bank account and I just got a suspicious activity message from my bank.
