    Intestate....public notification

Ohio. In the past I recall seeing public notification ads in the newspaper announcing someone had died and if you had a claim to the estate you should step up. That approach seemed geographically limited, and these days newspapers aren't very popular. If someone dies intestate are public...

    House deed never transferred.

Thanks for the reply. The brothers are both in their sixties at this point, I don't think either one is going to make an attempt to secure title. I guess it's going to be something for a future generation to hash out.

    House deed never transferred.

This isn't a scenario I'm involved in but I'm curious of how this needs to be handled. State of Oklahoma. My friend was sole beneficiary of his parents estate after his mother died in 2018, father had died years before. Part of the estate was a house previously owned by an aunt and uncle...

    Property purchase/gift tax

I'm in Ohio Both my kids were married in 2023 and I would like to purchase each of them property to build homes on. Ohio doesn't have a gift tax but I know there's a federal gift tax for over $17k so that's what my questions are about. This would be cash purchase from me to the seller or a...

Distribution of estate possesions from unowned property.

zddoodah said : not sure what you contemplate him filing (or where), but the answer is no. If I understand you correctly, he lives in a camper that he doesn't own, in a barn on property he doesn't own. Access to his property will be completely at the whim of your sister and brother-in-law...

Distribution of estate possesions from unowned property.

I understand at this time there is no executor, he simply asked me if I would be willing. Today I dropped off paperwork for assigning the executor, living will, durable power of attorney, and some blank generic wills. Also the name and number of who I had prepare my estate and a strong...

Distribution of estate possesions from unowned property.

I am helping him get a legal will prepared now, including a living will and a durable power of attorney for health care. He wants me to handle the estate, that is what prompted my questions, but I am not a beneficiary.

Distribution of estate possesions from unowned property.

In Ohio. Couldn't figure out a better thread title, sorry. My elder brother has lived in a camper tucked into a barn for over 25 years, not in any way a legal residence, also he has lived there rent free. The barn and property are owned by my sister and her husband who hate my brother as much...
