Not legal advice by any means, but is there a chance that you could spend a weekend out of town (witnessed) and see if the guy complains when you're not even home? That might be useful in proving that the problem is his, and not yours.

Did you hire a child psychologist to look into the amount of time he is spending away from his father before you made that move? You're not fooling anyone - it's clear that your concern is for your wallet and not the child's well being.

Perhaps a workable solution would be to explain to the PC exactly why OP doesn't want the ex to have this information while offering to provide the information to the PC, so that he/she can run the background check.
