     How do I calculate the cash value?

     That is a little hard to say, it all depends on the specific policy and the insurance provider. I have seen the surrender value as high as 15% and as low as .2%. Average is probably around 3-5%. It won't hurt to contact them and ask.

     cash in or not

     You will have to check with your insurance company. Most policies will have a cash surrender value. It will be a small percentage compared to the value of the policy. Pros would be you would get some money out of it (not much) and cons would be you would surrender the policy. Life settlement...

     If it paid off the house, just show the transaction to the bank or mortgage company that is foreclosing. I am confused, can you explain a little more. How long ago did the insurance pay off the house?

     What Should I do?

     Yes, little information. But if you all agreed on $200.00 then that should be it. But to be safe, might need to go to the insurance company. However they might not put a claim if there isn't a police report.
