Unfortunately since I am going through the same garbage with DMB - I don't really have any advice except to say that your evidence from DMB and Transunion is pretty sound. I can't imagine that in the face of all that evidence - they could have much of a case against you.

I would think that unless the family member gave permission in writing, or in front of reliable witnesses who would be willing to testify that it's going to be hard to prove that permission was granted.

I actually did (against the credit report agency's advice) call the credit card company. They had no record of me ever having a credit card, and I wasn't in their collections department. I did not have any success - as they claimed that I never existed. Arghghg...

I have just been investigating this myself - my lawyer friend did some research for me and all evidence points to 6 years. I guess there have been some rather recent changes in the laws so the online info that you'll find saying 3 years is no longer accurate.
