I have a 15yr. old daughter who wants to move out of our house and live with her older sister, do i have the right to make her come back home, the police say i can't force her to come home because she will be 16yrs old in a few months, please advise me, i don't know how to legally go about this!!!

If I had a 15 year old - my first concern would be to find a way of stopping them from leaving the family home in the first place.

Is there a particular reason why you didn't ask your question that way around?

Dear MaryP:

Did you place me on your "Buddy List" ? I ask because I was asked to come to this post. If I am, and there is a way to remove me from such list, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Not guilty Sir.

I've checked and there is no one on my "buddie list" (sniff!) and I certainly didn't request the pleasure of your company on this or any other occasion. It's not something I would have considered doing.

I have absolutely no idea who directed you to this post but I can appreciate how annoying it must be for you - perhaps they just want to "see" you knock me off my soapbox again :)

If it happens again, please let me know and I'll ask the technical bods to take a look to see if I've screwed anything up.

My response:

Not a problem. And, it's nothing personal. It's just that I was directed to this post when I hadn't even responded to it - - normally, when I respond to a post, I receive an e-mail telling me there's another post on the thread, and that, of course, is what I want.

Additionally, and like I said, it's nothing personal, but I wouldn't even want LB, HomeGuru, or anyone else to place me on their Buddy List without first asking. It's not that I don't like these good ol' chaps (and I do, immensely), or anyone else, but I'd really only rather be directed to posts where I have contributed to the thread.

I'm sure you understand.

Thanks for your quick response.

15yr old

In response to your question, she was spending the summer with her older sister, babysitting to help her out. I have since resolved the problem with the help of the Probation Department in my county. My daughter is now back home but with rules that have to be followed or the Probation Department will intervene. Thank you for responding to my dilemma. I have since been informed that as of Nov. 1, 2001, the law in my state will be changed to where 16yr olds cannot move out of their parents home, the age will be changed to 18yrs old. Good luck to all the parents who are going thru what i went thru.

My heart goes out to you, from reading between the lines it sounds as if you've been through difficult times with your daughter.

I'm sure that there'll be some rocky times ahead but with the support of the Probation Department you can make it.

Hang in there and God Bless.
