i live in ny state. my 16 year old son has left home to live with his girlfriend and her mother. i have contacted everyone from the sherriffs dept to soc svcs to child protection and all tell me there is nothing i can do to make him come home. the girlfriends mother is not cooperating, and it is not the best environment for my son. i was told by several officials that even though he refuses to come home i am still responsible for him. i talk to him every day. i am afraid he is going to get himself into trouble due to lack of supervision. do i have any legal way to get him at least out of that house. he has other relatives / friends he could stay with that would be much better for him until we can work out our problems (he "hates" his step-dad). Someone told me that i could take the girls mother to court to get him out of that house. is there any truth to that? can i hold her accountable for his actions? help!!!
