Pennsylvania- I purchased a 2003 Chrysler PT Crusier Touring Edition with only 19015 miles on it. I have since put 1000 miles on it and have found over the past 2 weeks of driving it that there are a few things that need to be addressed. I called the dealership and setup an appointment and they cant verify the warranty on it so I looked over the paperwork and it says as-is no warranty, however, when they sold the car they told me it still had the 36k mile warranty on it and the window sticker also states this, so it should still be under a 36k mile manufacturer's warranty but they did basically a bait-n-switch and we didnt read over the contract when they had us sign as we assumed they had the warranty coverage stated properly as they told us it had the warranty. Now what do I do?

I suggest that you have your vehicles more thoroughly checked PRIOR to purchase in the future. You're welcome :)

hey zinger, your really pissing me off, it has nothing to do with what i bought, im asking for help on the warranty issue as I feel I was baited and switched on. The issue with the car is a minor issue, its nothing major, my main concern is that i have a warranty if something goes wrong with the car, thats why i bought this car specifically because of the warranty! so take your car buying advice and be gone. I need help with a warranty issue, not the car. The issue is stated clearly so read.

Then you are SOL. Contracts which of and concern goods over $500 must be written and signed by the party it is to be enforced against per the statute of frauds. Prior or contemporaneous statements are not allowed to prove anything regarding the contract if the contract is meant to be the totality of the deal (Four corners test) per the parol evidence rule.

The written contract is the deal. Not that it needs it, but I bet there is a clause saying exactly that in the contract.

I believe the original Chrysler warranty was for 36,000 miles or 36 months, whichever comes first. Looks like the warranty ran out years ago.

Never believe what a salesman tells you when you purchase a car. Believe what is written in the contract. Believe what the mechanic you hired tells you about the vehicle.
