Although I will be fleeced soon.

I sincerely hope that you are required to pay the maximum amount that the law allows. It might, maybe, might just hurt you enough to think twice about driving 42% over the speed limit (but, I doubt it.)

Thank you for your insightful help. Not that I owe you any explanation after your judgemental response, but I wasn't being ****y with the card. I actually got the card for doing a favor for a cop and not taking his money despite him insisting. I was just hopeful I'd have gotten a break or if not just consideration to bring it to 4 points because there is error in the equipment.

Anyway I mentioned the card only after I mentioned paying the ticket. I was curious. I made no excuses. I'm not sure why you joined this conversation with such negativity.

I never made a sob story that I shouldn't have been driving the car anyway and that I drove as a favor to my in laws. Also I did not mention that I was not driving my own car but a faster vehicle. Had it been my car I would not be having this conversation because my car does not maintain its speed and my car gives me feedback to let me know I'm going fast. Nor did I mention that my in laws delayed going back to Nj and it was past midnight when I pulled over.

You are tougher than the cop that pulled me over. Thanks for letting me put some perspective on that.

There are cards that get you out of speeding tickets? Does it have a picture of a bald, mustached guy in stripes on it and say "Get out of Jail" on the face of it?

Incredible.

LOL

Around these parts there are things called "PBA cards" which police officers give to family members and close friends. The idea behind them is that when stopped the bearer is extended courtesy. In reality, the courtesy is often dependent on a lot of factors.

This seems to be something that is unknown outside of the NY metro area

I imagine similar things exist in other places in one form or another. I guess I gotta get more friendly with my cop friends ;)

Maybe Carl can comment about out west, but I know down south these things are unheard of and not generally recognized.

I'm in a Facebook law enforcement group and the topic comes up once in a while - the guys and gals in other parts of the country are usually confused when presented with one of these cards.
