WELL EVERYONE, IT IS OFFICIAL NOW - IN MARLBORO TOWNSHIP, MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ THEY WILL GIVE YOU $ 250 FINE FOR DRIVING AND TALKING ON CELLPGONE. THIS TOWN IS ALREADY CONTROLLED BY "GESTAPO" POLICE WHICH ARE LOOKING FOR ANY EXCUSE TO TICKET YOU, AND NOW THEY HAVE ONE MORE EXCUSE TO GIVE YOU ONE MORE TICKET. THIS LAW WAS PASSED 4:0 BY TOWNSHIP COUSEL, AND IMMEDIATELY SIGNED INTO LAW. ISN'T DEMOCRACY WONDERFUL! I HOPE THEY "BUST" THE TOWNSHIP EMPLOYEE FIRST, THOUGH, THAT WILL BE ONLY FARE! FOR EVERYONE ELSE, MAKE SURE YOU GO AROUND THIS TOWN - YOU CAN HIT IT WHILE DRIVING ON ROUTE 9 AND 18.

My response:

You had three choices:

1. Don't talk while driving;

2. Pull over and talk; or,

3. Use a hands-free phone.

Sorry, safety first. You just became a safer driver.

I agree! Safety does come first. Laws like this one are passed to protect other people as well as the ones talking who aren't aware of the danger. Just last week a man was killed on the freeway in Houston. He smashed into the back of an 18 wheeler while talking on his cell phone. A phone headset attachment could have saved this man. I don't think people realize how much holding a cell phone can distract you. A little distraction can end up in disaster.
Drive safely everyone :)

Driving an automobile is not one's constitutional right. That is why you were given a license to drive when you passed certain criteria. While holding that license, you are expected to follow and abide by certain laws and regulations whether you agree or disagree with them.
