What is the name of your state? California
Our neighborhood is preparing to sue some local tenants and the landlord for nuisance and have the support of our neighborhood council, and our City Attorney Office is getting involved through a nuisance abatement program too. We just found out one of the tenants was involved in a civil suit not too long ago.
How can we find out what it was for?

The simple and obvious (no disrespect intended) answer is to go to court and read the file. It's a public record.

Depending on the county in which you reside, you can get a good understanding from a court's online site and, if you're willing to do it, purchase copies of the pleadings for review online.

I was guessing that beachbather might be from Los Angeles or Orange County and was thinking of a link like this:

Orange County does something similar, but you can't retrieve documents. And all the courts have pretty sophisticated sites. I wasn't contemplating that his neighbor had been to an appellate court. That would suggest that the job of ousting them might be harder than expected.

YES! We are coming out in strength in numbers and organizing and getting educated. You guys have helped alot. Mostly reassuring that we are not just imagining things or are of a low tolerance etc... Wish we all had discorved this forum sooner. Like I said , we are all the wiser now although none of us grew up next to such people and I guess we were a little naive.

I don't know why, but I say go for the homeowner/landlord. He has to be held accountable for his tenants.

I don't know why.

Thanks. We will. We just found out he put his house in trust the year we all started gettting on his case about the drugs etc....about this time is when he started just hanging up the phone when anyone called to complain.. Does this mean he feels he's safe from losing anything if we sue him? the Deputy. City Attny. office rep is going to call him this week and he will get our signed neighborhood demand letter about the same time.. Do you think this will encourage him to get these people out?
I think he won't out of spite.
You have been there all the way. Thanks. Want to sign our petition:D
