Hello Community,

I just got a second job (part-time) to help me out with my bills since my first one covers CS and rent.

Am I obliged by the State to report to them of my second job? I understand that since I will be making a little bit more now, my total gross income will increase.

Is it just pointless to get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th job since the CS would increase since I make more?

Thanks.

No, its not pointless at all to get a second job. Yes, your child support might increase but it certainly won't take anywhere near all of your additional income.

oh ok.

Now I would like to know how arrears balances are determined. In my previous hearing the judge ordered that I had $21K in arrears since 2008, is this under his assumption that I was making $10 an hour for these past years?

Our next hearing will be on June 21st. Would it be wise to show the judge my tax returns for the past three years, it will clearly show that I didn't make $10 an hour.

Thanks.

I don't and can't know what he assumed. Was this a case of actual arrearages (you were ordered to pay child support and did not) or is this a case where a judge is ordering back support? If its the latter, it certainly couldn't hurt to show the judge your prior years tax returns.

It was originally for Child Custody (parenting time)

I represented myself, mother had her attorney. This sneaky attorney served me with the CS papers while we were seating in Court waiting for judge. So I obviously was caught off guard because I was not expecting the hearing be for that also.

So the judge made his calculations for CS support then he determined that I had over $21K in arrears.
