Can my boss dock me a days pay if I'm a salary paid employee? I was docked because the boss said I leaned over in a provacative manner. When I asked her, what exactly did I do, she said,"You don't get it!" I was leaning over to tell a co-worker something that I did not want others to hear, and I had jeans on that day because it was dress down day (Friday). I was told to not be in on Monday and I would not be paid for 1 day, and she would not tell the board of directors. On Tuesday, after returning bacj to work, the same co-worker told me that the boss told him not to tell anybody about what had happened!!!! My question is it legal to take a days pay from a salary paid employee and was it legal for her to send me home for leaning over? I quess it's her opinion only that matters (leaning = provacative). My coworker and I have been told that we can not talk, and each time she sees us talk, we both jump, but on the other hand we know that this has created a hostile work enviroment!!! We know others can talk and its ok. My coworker is black and I am white and sometimes I think this is a racial thing. I have heard them make racial comments about black people!!! Please let me know what you think!!!!!!!!!!

Get real. The boss could have fired you, unless you had a contract or union.

If you think there is sexual harrassment or racial prejudice that is in effect at the workplace, see a lawyer about doing something about it. But if it's only one day's pay, grow up and count your blessings.
