What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

hi-i went on an interview and was hired. the owner (a doctor) stated that i was hired and introduced me to the staff as the new office biller. the owner then introduced me to the original biller and stated to send me the software at home and to go ahead and review it. i then received an email 2 weeks after that from the original biller stating that business is slow and we will resume in september. (originally went in june for job). i then sent an email and tried to call and received no answer. (the office closed for the summer) then i noticed they were posting for my position just 2 weeks ago. do i have any recourse?

Not unless you had a bona fide employment contract guaranteeing the terms of your employment and the number of hours contracted for.

Did you ever start working for this doctor? I wasn't clear.

Unless you have a written contract, then no, unfortunately you probably don't. Did you quit a job to take this one?

no written contract except e-mails that i have received from them. with the way they run this doctors office, i dont think they know what a written employee contract would be.

this is one of 2 emails i received.

the first one was the actual billing program that they use.
this is part of the second one.
Art from software motief and they have a tutorial web site will send you a link to our system. I do not have to tell you any patient data you may see is sacrosanct and non discussable with anyone else. Also we only have three user names and login ins so use this on weekend only as it is in use during week. Your user name will be xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

and i am sorry this was sent to me on july 8th. why would a doctors office send out their billing software program as well as their passwords to access it to just anyone walking down the street? i am to assume that they send you this will all their patients private medical health information, you would think that you are on board with working with them.

no i did not quit a job for this one, but i did tell potential future employers that i was not interested since i was told i had this job.
