My girlfriend and myself have recently been recieving threats and abuse by a couple of users on Yahoo!'s chat service. We have also had e-mail stolen from there system.
Sending mail to the abuse address at Yahoo! results in a "We will look into this" mail.
We know their user names, we still have the messages and we know when they were on-line.
Does anyone know if it is possible, by legal means, to track and trace these individuals??
It is my understanding that Yahoo logs IP addresses of users, having this would allow you to determine their ISP. Coupled with the time logged in, the ISP should know what user it was with that address at that time. Providing it is not a free service, their personal details would be on file and they would be traceable.
Is there anyone else that can be contacted to look into these threats, as I have to take them seriously and not as some stupid internet thing??
I need advice as this is worrying us.
Thanks.
