Hi,

A friend of mine who works at a 5 star resort as a room service person was accused today by a guest who says her wallet was stolen by him. She called the cops and right before the police arrived she found her wallet which she actually misplaced. My friend is a minority and needless to say put a lot of stress on him who is actually very shy and suffers from social anxiety. He signed a paper with the police and left it as it is. Was his rights violated and what does he need to do at this point? Does he have a case?

Thanks,
Chris

His rights weren't violated based on anything you have written.

A wallet was missing, the victim believed your friend did it and said so. The wallet was found. No violation of any rights.

A person has a right to complain about anyone. They also have a right to make a false accusation. Knowingly and intentionally making a false allegation with malicious intent might be a problem, but that just isn't likely the case here.

Tell your friend to move on.
