What is the name of your state? florida
ok, i posted that my husband has been incarcerated for all of his daughter's life. she is now 17-18 in oct. she is getting assistance from the state. her 24 yr old female lover has 'caregiver' paper written by mother. she (g/f) is pusuing child support. there is no court order yet. will my husband have to pay child support now-since she is almost 18-it most likely won't even go to court before she turns 18. he has been unable to pay for all these yrs-not unwilling. can they get cs now & can they make it go retro for all the yrs he was incarcerated.
yeah sounds like jerry springer but isn't. angry children that are not willing to work or go to school should not expect to ride thru life for free either.

The state will certainly be looking to get it's money back from Dad.

As for "angry children".... is it any surprise when their parents effectively abandon them?

father did not abandon her. he was locked up by mother who kicked him out then when he came back to get his stuff-she called law saying he broke in, violating an injunction he never received a copy of.
now this 'child' has a two yr old, lives with 24 yr old female lover. they move from place to place, not working, living on state assist, won't go to school. they even stayed with us for 7wks-wouldn't pay a nickel nor help around the house-so much as sweep a floor. they are trying to get whatever they can for free. dad & i tried to help but refused to support the 3 of them. so i say they are angry over that. she is almost 18 & it's time to grow up!

Ya know..... people don't get locked up for 17-18 years for violating a restraining order.

why dad got locked up is not what the ? is here. the fact remains that he could not pay cs. when mom was in the free world working & lost custody-why is she not ordered to pay? why should it all fall on dad who could not pay?
not to mention that daughter has been in a sexual relationship with an adult female for over 2 yrs now. isn't that illegal? the fact remains that they are trying to get everyone else to pay their way thru life instead of working & making a dollar on their ow

That wasn't my point. My point was that this kid's parents BOTH effectively abandoned her, so it should be no huge surprise that she's messed up. Yes, Mom should also be paying support (assuming her rights haven't been terminated) - but it needs to be filed for.
