Hi,
I'm originally from Singapore and travelled legally into the US on a B2-visa which is good till March 2001.

I've been recently married to a US citizen and am hoping to change my status to acquire permanent residency. I currently reside in the state of Arizona.

Would it be worth the effort to do it yourself(as its more economical!), than having to hire an immigration attorney at the cost of abt $2500 to get the paperwork done?

Plus, how can I be ensured that I can get a good and efficient lawyer to handle my case?

Please advise as soon.
Thank you

My wife and I did our own K-1 and just filed on our own for AOS. It seems fairly straightforward. The K-1 was painless, hopefully this will be the same.

This type of visa is painless and can easily be done yourself rather than spend that sort of money.

Go to http://www.k1faq.com

This will help with a lot, also the brown envelope will have links to help you with filing the I-130.
