You may be able to obtain the records from the adoption agency or the state.
What do you wish to accomplish?
I want to know the exact year of the adoption. My mother and adoptive father are deceased so I can't ask them for the record. My stepfather was an attorney so he might have had a fellow attorney do the adoption. At any rate, who do I need to contact to get a copy of this adoption document?
If they recorded a "Certificate of Birth Facts" in your state's vital records depository, you should be able to obtain a copy. That subsitutes for a county birth certificate.
For what purpose do you need that? There may be other solutions.
How old were you in 1970? That's about how old you were when he adopted you, give or take, depending on the exact year.

...did you have a point?![]()
Need to correct the html to make link. I simply pasted the url into the post and it obviously does not make a link. You watch this thing pretty closely I see. Are you opposed to the article I tried to link to?
I just have no clue why you're posting a link to an article that makes no mention of the laws that were in place in your state during the period in which you were adopted which may help you in your quest.
Please, if I'm missing it - I'd be glad to apologize!![]()
I am posting it because I know the information contained in the article, "Access to Adoption Records: Summary of State Laws" will be useful to others.
