My wife (biological mother) and I would like to adopt her child. The biological father spends every other weekend and two nights a week with the child. As part of the custody agreement, he also pays child support and provides insurance for the child. He has asked us to insure the child. We are taking this opportunity to ask him if we may adopt the child with his consent. If he agrees, what steps are we required to follow in Arkansas to complete the adoption process. It is our understanding that after the adoption is complete the biological father would no longer be responsible for child support or to provide insurance coverage. Is this correct? We have also been told that we would not need to alter the biological father's visitation schedule as set forth in the custody agreement. Is this correct?
