What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Maine.

Can I legally adopt my step daughter while my husbands parental rights to her are suspended due to her being under the limited guardianship of her paternal grandfather and his girlfriend?

Where is Mom exactly?

Why are your husband's rights suspended?

Based on the total lack of information you give...I'm going to say...Nope. :)

Do you know of any way to adopt other than “legally”?

To do so “legally” would require the written, acknowledged consent of :

1. The living parents, unless one’s parental rights had been formally terminated and/or has executed a surrender and release.

2. The adoptee if age 14 or older.

3. The person(s) or agency having legal custody or guardianship of the child, or to whom the adoptee has been surrendered and released. (With he provision that the person or agency can show good reason for withholding consent.)

Plus it seems unlikely that the probate court would accept the consent of your husband while the conditions by which his custodial and visitation rights were taken away still exist.
