My fiance, after many battles, has finally given up.
The mother of his 2 children wants him to sign over his rights to the children, and he is considering doing so, but we have several questions(we live in Ohio).
She has a live-in boyfriend, but is not married.
Is her live in boyfriend allowed to adopt the children, if the biological father signs away his rights? How would that affect child support, or who would be responsible?
Does the fact that the mother receices public assistance matter in this case?
Thanks so much for your comments and or advice

She has to be married to the man if he wants to adopt the child. That is the only way that your hubby will be able to relinguish his rights to the children. If they got married, and he adopted the children; your hubby would no longer be responsible for future child support. The day the adoption is final, is the day that his financial support is ended. If he owes any back support, he would still be responsible for that until it's paid regardless if the children are adopted.

Until she marries and there is a step parent to adopt the children, he is still financially responsible for the children.

If he wishes not to be a part of their life until such time, that is his decision. But he is still financially responsible until the children are adopted.

Good luck!
