My boyfriend of 5 years and I recently broke up, but he remains the only father my 5 year old son has ever known. We had always planned on him adopting my son since his bilogical father chooses not to be in his life and has agreed to terminate his parental rights. Other than my son my ex and I also have 2 other children together. Can he still adopt my son even though we are not together?

Really, this ex of your is willing to pay child support for a child that is not his? He would be an idiot to put himself on the hook like that.

If your ex adopts the child, then HE will be the only parent of the child. I'm sure that's not what you wanted, is it?

Yes and no. EVen though we are not together I have decided not to pursue child support on him for our 2 daughters, and likewise would not do it if he adopted my son either. However, he is prepared to assume all responsibilty for my son. Including financial responsibilty. I am planning on enlisting in the army at the beginning of next year and to do that as a single parent I have to be willing to sign over legal custody of my children to their father, and I do not want my sons biological father having any rights to my son, partly because he doesnt want them. I dont need sarcastic comments, just answers. Please and thank you.
