What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Nebraska law

Hello. I would like to know if a 15-year-old is allowed to adopt a child under the Nebraska state law? I've read the age varies from 18 - 21, but some resources say to consult a lawyer.

Extra notes:

The person wanting to adopt is 15 and wants to adopt her younger brother, who is 6.

Thanks in advance.

Not even a chance.

What makes this 15 year old think s/he is a more suitable parent than the parents of the 6 year old? How would s/he be able to provide a home?

Come on.

Her mother is abusive - she kicked the 15-year-old out to live with her father (parents are divorced), has anger issues, etc.

This person believes that her younger brother should be living with her and her father as it would be a much safer environment for the child.

I'm really not trying to be harsh here but...the 15 year old is absolutely delusional.

There isn't a court in the land going to terminate the rights of BOTH the 6 year old's parents in order for a minor to adopt.

Not happening.

If the 6 year old is being abused, CPS/equivalent should be called.

If 15 year old's father is also the father of the 6 year old, he may have standing to sue for custody.

Unlike biological parents, adoption parents are required to show financial ability to support the child they are adopting. They need to show they have the ability to provide safe shelter and for the child's needs.

I am being harsh, both the 15 yr old AND the OP are delusional.
Common sense alone should tell anyone that a 15 yr old child cannot adopt a child.
This has got to be high up on the list of the most ridiculous questions asked, unless the OP is a child also.

Then why isn't the father of the 6 year old doing something about custody of his child?
And who are YOU in this situation?

the 15 yr old has no legal standing now or ever to do anything where their sibling is concerned.
