My great grandfather had a gentlemen's agreement with the current man who is farming a portion of our land. This agreement went along the lines of " As long as you pay the taxes for the land, you can farm it." Since then, my great grandfather, and my grandfather past. No one other than the man who is farming our land was present when the agreement took place and there is no documentation of the agreement. My father, along with other relatives know of the agreement and have continued to uphold it. Seeing as this man has been farming our land for quite a few years (I cant be certain how many, but it has been over a decade) would it be possible for him to claim this land by means of adverse possession? We have not interfered with the potion of the land that he uses to farm, however we maintain the land around it. This land is located in Georgia.

It sounds like it is permissive use which is going to not support a claim of adverse possession. Of course, a verbal agreement is going to be challengeable in court, especially with the people who made it long gone. Whoever is the owner could now try to make that permission explicit. You may wish to consult an attorney.
