Agency website that says you can report fraud anonymusly, has revealed my identity

What is the name of your state? NJ
I reported possibly incriminating information to a state site, that said
"Your referral will be kept completely confidential."
Now the police department is saying they were forwarded the information and now my identity will be revealed publically.
Is there anything I can do to surpress my identity being exposed?

pretty much a rule of thumb about anything online is if you dont want it to come back and bite you in the ass dont put it out there.
