My lawyer called me in to discuss the settlement of my case. He pulls out this paper that says I agree to accept this low ball offer. I said why would I sign this, and he claims it is to protect himself, but not to worry he will get much more than this stated amount. I refused to sign, why would I agree to accept such a small amount. What are my options here. The lawsuit is for injuries from a car accident.

If you don't agree with it, don't sign it. Tell the lawyer what you WILL accept. Let him tell you whether that is reasonable.

What were your injuries? How much are your medical bills and lost wages? How much did he ask you to authorize him to settle for?

The other party made an offer. Your lawyer is obligated to share the offer with you and let YOU make the choice whether to take it. He advised you that he can do better and you shouldn't accept it. Where's the problem?
