HELP!!! I'm in South Carolina and I am tired of paying alimony! I've been divorced 4 yrs and apart for 6 yrs. I recently lost my job and have minimum unemployment coming in. This doesn't stop my other bills. I went to a lawyer and he said to lower my payments I had to pay $2000 dollars but that only cut my payments to 1/2. I'm making $0 but still having to pay her based on the amount I was making 4 months ago. I thought divorce was to separate. How is me paying her forever right? Don't know what to do. I don't want to go to prison for not paying.
