What is the name of your state? alabama Husband has paid alimony for 14yrs. ex spouse has been living with another man. Do we have to continue paying alimony while she is shacked up with an able-bodied working man??

It depends on the type of Alimony that has been awarded, as MS has 3 types: Periodic, lump sum and rehabilitative alimony.

Rehabilitative alimony and Periodic alimony have fixed durations of payment. Lump sum can be paid all at once or in periodic payments. Periodic Alimony terminates upon the remarriage of the receiving spouse or the death of the paying spouse.

Periodic and Rehabilitative alimony may be modified by increasing, decreasing, or terminating the award. However, any modification may be made only upon order of the court, not by one of the parties acting alone.
