i am in sc and am in the process of going through a divorce, which has to start with a one year legal separation. am i entitled to alimony during this period?

Yes you should be entitled to support. Consult with an attorney, try to get a free consultation which most offer. Your legal fees should be chargeable to your husband. He should be required to provide support by court order pending final resolution as part of any divorce settlement.
A lawyer should be able to work all this out. Good luck.
