I was legally separated in Louisianna in July of 93. As part of the separation my ex was awarded alimony and child support.part of the alimony agreement was until my ex became self supportive. She started working 3 months later That was 3 months later so I stopped paying alimony. In 1999 i was sent a letter from the family child support division in Louisanna ( I live in California) stating that i owed 14,000 in back alimony.
In Feb of this year i had not been working so my present wife and i did a quick deed to remove my name from the title on the house that we both had purchased. In Sept my present wife sold the house and the child support division took half of the proceeds. The title is in my wifes name so the paperwork detailing the money paid to my ex-wife is on my wifes title. Is that legal.
