What is the name of your state? PA

My boyfriend received an interview date for his adjustment of status interview (based on his father's petition). Neither he nor his father speak English well enough to attempt any kind of conversation. In the appointment letter it states that he may bring a translator with him, but it can't be a family member of "an interested party". What does that mean in this case? I am his financial co-sponsor (his father doesn't have enough income) - does it mean that I have any "interest" in his case?

I am going to call the INS customer service with this question, but I don't trust their answers, as more than once I received incorrect information there.
