I was just served with papers for a civil suit against me for "stealing" a car. The story is that my girlfriend was givin a car by her parents I was unwilling to title the vehical in my name because I had 3 cars on the road at that time. She forged my signature to the title to put it in my name anyway. I did nothing about it at the time. We have broken up now for some time and I left the car with her.Some time later she gave the car back to me saying it was payment for money she owed me. But now her mother wants the car back saying that there was never any thing saying I could keep it. Do I need to worry ? And can I counter sue for the money I will be out for the lawyer and for defation of character ?because I did not take the car they gave it to me.

I made a new thread to answer you because this one was locked and I couldnt figure out how to open it duh but she was my x and the title is still in my name her mom took out the suit against me after I filed for custody of my child they didnt want the car until I filed so it is really just to make me look bad my question is can I get in trouble?
