What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OR
I have been leasing a small commercial building for hobby use. My lease is up in about 18 hours, (June 1) but Monday is a holiday and me and the landlord have not been able to meet up yet to sign my new lease. I asked her if it would be ok to wait until after June 1 to resign, and said I would pay June rent as normal, and she agreed.
June rent has already gone out. She agreed in writing (email) that we would resign the lease after it expired. I plan to meet with her as soon as possible, but, we may not agree on the new lease. Since I've already paid for june, does that mean I have until the end of the month no matter what to move, if I decide to? Or can she kick me out early since my lease expired June 1?
In other words, as long as I keep paying rent, and she keeps accepting it, are we on a "month to month" lease now?
That will have a *BIG* impact on whether I stay or not, whether I would have to move almost overnight or I could take my time...
