What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado

Our landlord has told us he wants to come do an inspection of the inside of the property this week. I understand this is his right and I'm not disputing that. The problem is I have a disabling anxiety disorder. My previous psychiatrist actually encouraged me to seek disability because it's so bad. Hearing about the inspection has sent me into a huge anxiety attack. I know it's not a reasonable answer but part of me wants to just pack up and move rather than go through an inspection. The thought of someone I don't know well around all my stuff is just too much. Heck, I don't even have friends over because I freak out about people in my house. A friend suggested that it might be possible to request to take pictures for the landlord instead of having him in the house while we still live here. Is this a legal request? I know anyone can ask anything of someone and that doesn't make it legal.

So that's my question... can I legally request that, because of the nature of my disability, he accept photographs of the inside of the house instead of an in person inspection?

Why don't you offer to do a video conference and walk through the house "real-time" so he can see the condition?

I never thought of that. I'm not sure how to do a real time video chat. I've done video chatting on my computer through Skype but that's it. Is there a way to do it on the phone? I rarely use the phone for anything aside from texting and internet (anxiety extends to even talking on the phone, one reason why I seek answers online before trying to call anywhere) so I've never done anything like that.

If you have a relatively modern smart phone, you should be able to load Skype on it. If you have an iPhone, and so does the landlord, then you can use Facetime.

I do have Skype on my phone! I don't think I've ever used it though but I can figure it out. (I haven't video chatted since my husband and I were dating. lol) I don't think our landlord has a smart phone or iphone though. I'll have my husband ask if he has a computer and can do a video chat that way. Thank you for the suggestion. :)

Thank you. I was seeing a great therapist and psychiatrist for a while (I have debilitating anxiety and bipolar 2) but then lost insurance so I couldn't go for a while. I have insurance again but it's hard to go in to get help for anxiety when it's so bad you have an anxiety attack just thinking about going in. Heh. Even when I was on meds they only worked enough to keep me stable within an expected routine. Once anything varied from what I was expecting nothing helped. :(

If this does not work (and I am not aware of any law that would protect you) why don't you let your husband handle the inspection?

Try to work it out with your landlord, because, honestly, I don't think you have much of a leg to stand on.
Thank you. I wish there was some sort of law protecting those in my position but if there isn't, then there isn't. We're going to try and work it out with the landlord tomorrow.

He will, I'm sure of that, but the anxiety comes from someone else being in the house, period. No matter who is there during the inspection. The logical side of my brain knows it's silly but the anxiety overrides the logical thinking completely. It's something I've been trying to work through, and I've made some improvements, but not enough.
