What is the name of your state? CA

When things were looking pretty grim between my husband and I, I spoke with an attorney who informed me about divorce options. She told me about SUMMARY DISSOLUTION and the 3 year "deadline" (which basically leaves no alimony resonsiblity on either party...as long as there's no major purchases, collective debt or children involved).
Well three years is coming up shortly....and thinking more in terms of "insurance" (vs. "planning and preventing" a divorce or dissolution)....I was told that I could file some sort of paperwork (separation??) and it could be "retro-active" when/if we ever get divorced.
My goal is to prevent having to pay alimony to my non-working husband...if we ever get divorced. He can't keep a job, so we rely on my income soley. (something I didn't know b/f we got married)

I don't know much about alimony, but don't judge's grant that to either party to allow them to continue to live the same or similar lifestyle they lived while married? I just wonder. I don't personally agree with alimony....CS YES!, but not alimony. Hmmm...
