 What is the name of your state?South Carolina I recently had a workers comp. case that had ALL the earmarks of a open/shut clear winning case in my favor. Approximately 10 min. before the case was to go before the judge, my atty informed me that my case possibly wasn't a clear winning case and that if I would settle for a ridiculous amount that ths case would be done and the possibility of me getting zero from a judge could be avoided. I was not happy and I was totally shocked/dazed/confused, not believing what I'd just been handed, my atty then comes up with another figure that he may be able to get me if I would decide not to try going back to work but I would have to say "yes" when he asked me the questions in front of the judge such as : am I in agreement of this agreement, and am I understanding this, and for the clincher, Am I satisfied with my legal representation.
I had just been told that I had no job or benefits or insurance, still had the responsibility of paying some remaining doctor bills of several thousand dollars and my neck injury was my responsibility to have repaired and I still owed him 8,000 of my 25,000 settlement. Totally distraught and devastated here, help!
