in NY i was on probation for a misdemeanor. i left the state because i had nowhere to go. it was in the middle of nowhere and no place to stay sleeping on the floor and in the cold. before that i finished most of the probation sentence with no violations or anything. is there any way to take care of it back home without ruining my life? i dont even know what id do i dont want to go to jail, i have no place to stay there, and i dont think there would be a way to transfer my probation to my new state because its just a misdemeanor. is there any way i can go back and have it terminated or at least mail in probation or something?

You probably should not count on “mailing in” your probation. :)

How long ago was this? Did you ever let your probation officer or the probation office know you were leaving the state?

If not, and if you did not complete the terms of your probation as ordered, you could find yourself having to serve out whatever sentence you would have faced had you not been granted probation.

I recommend you contact an attorney, in the area of New York where you committed the misdemeanor and were sentenced, to discuss your available options.
