North Carolina- In July 2010, my wife had some minor driving citations dismissed, via retained lawyer. This past Thursday, the sherriff's dept. came to our house and took her to jail. They issued warrants for Failure to Appear, She has never been in any trouble what so ever , she was taken to the jail, $20,000 secured bond and was there overnight. Dismissed the next day, but she is unable to cope, she is litterally a wreck over this. Can we be compensated?

It might depend on what state you are in. I know I heard a rumor that here in CA, they compensate you $100.00 per day for mistaken overnight jail time. But I haven't seen anything to back that up.

If your wife was that traumatized, her issues backdate from before this incident and should be evaluated by a professional therapist.

ETA: ah! You fixed that! Thank you!
