What is the name of your state? New York

I found a letter that indicated that my sister has an arrest warrant on her from August of last year. She wrote a bad check for $500 in Las Vegas. The letter reached her in July of this year.

If you pay the arrest warrant, is it still on your record?

I know that she probably paid it because she knows I know and we are going thru some legal proceedings for guardianship and she wants to look good.

If she paid it, will it still count against her?

Is this a felony?

Thanks,
Dun

Was she charged with a crime, what is the charge?

An arrest warrant does not "look good", but it is not nearly as detrimental as being charged and convicted.

The letter says: "Due to your failure to make restitution arrangements with this office (Clarke County DA's Office, Bad Check Diversion Unit), a criminal complaint has been filed and a warrant for your arrest has been issued. You may be arrested at any time as long as this warrant remains outstanding.

The total amount owed is____________

If you wish to resolve this matter before you are arrested on this warrant, you may contact the DA's office at the number above."

Then the actual complaint goes on to say that she committed the crime of "Drawing and passing a check w/o sufficient funds in a drawee bank with intent to defraud, presumptions of intent to defraud (Felony-NRS 205.130, 132)."

So, what does all this mean? If she paid, is it still on her record since it got this far? Is this a felony? Was she charged? You can only be convicted if you have a trial or something, no?

Thanks for the advice.

According to your post, she has not been arrest, charged or convicted yet, she needs to contact the DA's office, they will provide her with the pertinent information. The DA will decided if she is charged. This should be done ASAP!

So, even though it took her almost a year to respond, she probably got off scott-free if she paid the debt only a month or so ago? How can I find out what the DA decided?

Thanks
