What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?California
Hello, I have a serious problem, I purchased a used 2001 GM Yukon XL from a dealership and the owner was the person who sold it to me. He stated that he was the actual owner of the vehicle and also stated that every vehicle that they sell is inspected and all fluids changed. There was no white paper in the window stating an as is warranty or anything. Ok this was my first buying experience. On the way home the change oil light came on and I called him and he told me to take it and get it serviced and they would pay for it, Which I did the following day. I faxed him a copy of the receipt of service and stated that he should follow up with his personal as to making sure that they are actually inspecting the vehicles before they sell them.
I have received at least 8 calls from this place wanting me to bring the vehicle back in, They had lost the paper work, Then they wanted to do a free oil change, Then they wanted to sell me an extended warranty, Finally on the last call he tells me that the vehicle was never inspected that it had come straight in and then sold to me! I asked him why he told me it was there personal vehicle, He stated that they buy vehicles and his wife drives them so maybe someone was confused! I took the vehicle to a large dealership today and had it inspected. They sold me the vehicle with an oil leak that is all over the brakes, The engine has a knock which is called Piston Slap, The parking brake shoes are covered with oil, along with many other problems, I could have been in a serious accident from their failure to inspect the vehicle before letting me drive away in it! I am looking at close to $3,000 in repairs and would still have the engine noise! I thought all vehicles had to be inspected before sold by a dealership? Please is there anything I can do?
Thank you,
Michele
Sorry if this is a repeat I had the top wrong, Thank you!

You have the right to have the vehicle inspected by a knowledgable person of your choice before purchasing. If they gave you something in writing stating something that was false it would be a different story, as is, you can do nothing except try and work something out with them.

Purchased Used Car Answers To Your Questions

CA. First and foremost I was told that the owner of the Dealership owned the vehicle and was taken very well care of.
Second they stated that all of their vehicles are inspected before they are able to sell them.
Third There was no sticker in the window or anywhere on the car, saying as is or warranty provided.
Fourth They gave me a contract that was for someone purchasing the vehicle through payments, I paid Cash.
Fifth. According to several different Government agencies I spoke with the Co. that sold me the vehicle did not follow the law correctly, Maybe that's why they have called me 12 times wanting me to bring the car back in, Because they know that somewhere they made several mistakes.
Sixth. The car was sold to me in a dangerous condition.
And I am so sorry that I didn't know that I was able to have the vehicle inspected before I bought it, As no one told me my mistake, Also when asked if there were any know problems with the vehicle, The answer was no! It had been taken very good care of!
Last but not lease I would like to thank you for your help, I have already contacted the Fraud Investigation Dept. and they are sending me a form to file a complaint. Also my Sister works for BAR and she has stated the rules and regulations that a used car dealership in CA. have to follow, So tomorrow I will be contacting an Attorney.
I wish all of you much luck in solving your problems, I remember when a man's word was worth something, I guess that does not apply anymore.
Sincerely,
Michele :)
