I am from MI. My son has never met his biological grandparents. I would like to ask them for a complete medical history. My sons father has never been a part of my sons life and would offer no medical history when asked. I would like to first send a letter requesting this information and hope that they respond, but if they dont do I have any legal recourse to aquire this information? I have always felt that it is important to know what health issues may be inheirited. Can any one please advise me? Thanks:) Just to make something clear I am looking for a complete history on the entire family not just the father. Cancer, heart disease, diabetes. etc Thanks again

My response:

Sorry, unless they voluntarily give you the information, then there's nothing you can do, or a court can do, to "pierce" their Constitutional right of medical privacy.
