What is the name of your state? Washington

Our Condo Association consists of 16 self standing units (homes) with no common walls. Is there some way we can insure our individual units and have the association insure all common areas? We are advised that this would be less expensive as well as easier to resolve claims, but state RCW requires that the association maintain insurance on the units.
