What is the name of your state? Minnesota

My children are 11 and 13. My exhusband owes me just under $53,000 in back and current child support. He is currently under contempt and a warrant was issued. But he has successfully evaded the police.

My question is, if my former in laws pass away and leave an inheritance to my exhusband, can I get a lien on that for past child support.

I know that sounds terrible, but my ex works for cash and as soon as the State catch ups with him he quits or disappears.

I am assuming that the child support agency wouldnt be able to handle this.

Thanks

k

Yes, its possible to attach an inheritance for child support arrearages. It is possible for the child support agency to handle that...but a private attorney would probably do a better and quicker job.
