What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

I was wondering if background checks will show up on a background check, as I'm hoping to apply for a position in the state or more local government (police/peace officer)?

I am 19 now, and I am curious about a future career in law enforcement.. when I was about 14 I had assaulted a family member in a fight, and a police report was made. No, I didn't have charges pressed and since their were no charges pressed there was no court or conviction or lack thereof. I know for a fact that I would have to notify the hiring agency if I was to make it passed the basic recruitment process, but would that police report show up? This is in NY State BTW

Thank you in advance,

sseli
