New to website lol

Bailed someone out of jail but didn't cosign for them. They didnt end up going to court and bailing agency stole money out of my account because I used a debit card to bail them out. Bailing agency stole money from me without telling me I called them and they said I cosigned and they were gonna take me to court for the money but I have a receipt from that day clearly showing I didn't cosign. What should I do

When you bailed them out you were guaranteeing they would show. How did you bail them out without guaranteeing that they would show?

Someone else was guaranteeing them. I just paid the bail because they didn't have the money up front. I never signed anything while I was there.

Then how did they get your bank account number? Apparently you signed a check.

Someone can provide the funds for someone's bail, without having any legal liability, other than potentially losing the money they put up.

The OP used debit card. Apparently the bondsmen decided that allowed them to debit further funds from the account even though the OP did not cosign on the bail.

OP, if you haven't already disputed the debit with your bank, you should do so.

The OP did not "bail them out"! He did not "guarantee they would show"! The OP paid the fee for the bond and the surety posted bond. By his own words a third party co-signed the Indemnity Agreement. He signed nothing.

He is no more obligated to the surety because he put up the cost of the bond than he would be indebted to a mortgage holder because he befriended someone by making a payment on their mortgage.

Again, try reading some law for a change; like Section 29-2-101 Titled 29 Chapter 2 Tennessee Code " Writing required for action":

(a) no action shall be brought

* * * *
(2) to charge the defendant upon any promise to answer for the debt, default or miscarriage of another person

* * * *
unless the promise or agreement, upon which such action shall be brought, or some memorandum or note thereof, shall be in writing, and signed by the party to be charged therewith, or some other person lawfully authorized by such party. * * * *
