My mother made the error allowing my sister access to her checking account. This account was frozen this afternoon by a creditor of my SISTER for an unrelated unpaid debt. Is this legal?. My mother has nothing to do with my sister's finances anymore other than my sister is authorized to write checks on the frozen account to pay bills as my mother is ill with Cancer.

If your sister is on Mom's account, yes they can "freeze" it. She will have to either pay off the judgment or go to court to fix this.

cmorris is correct. More specifically, there is no such thing as a "signer" on a personal account. Your sister is either a co-owner on the account, in which case the judgement would be valid and legal, or she is a POA. If she is a POA on the account, then she is not an owner, and the judgement would be improper and should be removed. Do you know which one she is on the account?
