So back on the first of May 2016 I lost my job due to them determining that I was "not a good fit". Because of this, I filed for UI in NYS. I started receiving the benefits and then got employment around the start of June with a start date of June 13th. Because I was struggling financially I kept claiming until October.

I was given 435 a week for 18 weeks. 4 weeks of it was warranted. So total would be aroind 7800 total and 6000 not warranted. It was a stupid decision I fully admit.

Now I received a letter in the mail stating they received a subpoena to turn over my bank info to NYS Labor. They will be turned over June 30th.

Obviously Im being investigated. I havent received any notifications prior to this. Should I contact them and let them know the situation? From what I read jail time is possible but usually not for under 10k typically and they are more worried about collecting on the funds.

I really need to avoid jail time. I have a 6 year old daughter. I admit it was my fault. I could possibly get a lump but payments would be easier. Any ideas?
