What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I have a promisary note with someone for $100K, they were suppost to start a housing development here in california but didnt and havent paid me back, once I took the matter to the Real Estate attny, the person filed for bankruptcy.

Any advice or assistance on where I should go from here to try and get my money from him.

If he filed bk, you're probably sunk unless the note has some security interest.
For sure don't attempt to collect while he's in bk or has been discharged or you'll violate the automatic stay/permanent injunction that comes with a bk filing/discharge.
Speak with your lawyer and see if there is any recourse.

With that amount of money owed, make sure you show for the meeting of creditors. Again, a BK attorney will inform you and file the proper paperwork to object.
